There is uncertainty in a number of schools in Kibra cocnstituency regarding whether they will conduct the national exams as required.

This is after property worth millions of shillings was destroyed at the schools that were serving as polling stations in the repeat presidential elections on October 26.

Five classrooms, a library, store, three science laboratories and a computer room were all vandalised at the Raila Education Centre.

The unknown youth took advantage of the chaos on elections day and broke into the institution to destroy and loot.

Elsewhere, Equity Bank’s Kibera branch was also broken into and vandalised just weeks after the bank replaced glass windows that had been broken after the disputed August poll.

While visiting the school, Raila condemned the actions and said his political competitors were the ones behind these attacks.

“They think they are punishing me but they are punishing themselves. Whatever they do, the donkey is tired,” Raila said.

The school's management has shown optimistm that the students will manage to pull through and sit their exams next week.

“How can you destroy development? They don’t know how they are chasing away people who want to help them,” said BOD chair Anne Owiti.

The principal on his part said the students would have to sit the exams at whatever cost.

“The students must sit their exam. They have been learning so they will sit the exams no matter what it takes,” he said.
