Reliable sources at Kenya-today have revealed that a meeting between KANU Chairman Gideon Moi and Chama Cha Mashinani party leader Isaac Ruto is set for Monday at Narok West MP Patrick Ntutu's home in Olopirik area.

Also expected to attend are West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo, Emuruaa Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno, Kuresoi's Zakayo Cheruiyot and KANU Secretary General Nick Salat.

The meeting is set to propel Gideon's master plan in capturing more elective seats to influence policy at both regional and national level.

The plan is to use the influence gained to portray Deputy President William Ruto as a weak candidate, hence pulling him out in of the 2022 presidential race.

Sources privy to the KANU-Uhuru deal have revealed that Jubilee agreed not to field candidates for certain elective seats against KANU, especially in Rift Valley, a move that may see the independence party secure more elective seats in the region.

KANU will field candidates in North Rift while CCM will take charge of the South Rift with Kericho, Nakuru, and Bomet in focus.

DP Ruto has positioned himself as the de-facto leader of the Rift, and Jubilee's automatic presidential candidate in 2022, with the hope that the battalion of political leaders allied to him will be his springboard to the house on the hill.

However, leaders from Mount Kenya region have not been cosy with a Ruto presidency, sources have revealed hence the deal between Gideon and Uhuru as a move to keep DP Ruto in check.

National assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso on Saturday blamed KANU for jeopardising DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid by supporting Kenyatta's re-election on conditions.

“Kanu should stop giving us unnecessary conditions, Jubilee is not Uhuru alone,” said Laboso.

“Uhuru cannot be the party leader alone without the deputy party leader, and so Gideon and his ilk should bear in mind they are coming in, but that Ruto is the only de facto leader of the Kalenjin community,” she added.

“Unless they are dreaming, it is not going to be possible to come to Jubilee with an agenda to isolate the Deputy President,” she concluded.
