Ten youth in Kisumu have acquired motor bikes under the banner Tuk Tuk, Piki, Piki, Ndiga (TUPINDI) Sacco after its formation two years ago.
Receiving log books at the TUPINDI offices in Kibuye market on Tuesday, the group hailed the organisation for being transparent to the needs of young people.
A beneficiary Edwin Ochieng said TUPINDI is helping young people who cannot afford to buy a new motor bike.
Ochieng said there is a deposit fee being deposited at the organisation for one to acquire a motor bike and pay through installment.
He said he has a big dream and will use TUPINDI to scale the economic heights.
“My life has changed since I acquired this motorbike. In the recent past I used to hire, that means every evening I must submit Sh300 to the owner, now I own mine and am capable of doing a lot for my family,” he said.
Francis Juma, another beneficiary said he has benefited tremendously from TUPINDI and appealed to young people to register with the Sacco.
Kisumu Central Constituency CDF manager Nahashon Ngwena said the dream of area MP Ken Obura was to ensure young people own motorbikes.
Mr Ngwena said Mr Obura is geared towards an economic empowerment for young people.
“The area MP who is also a youth is dedicated to bring a change into the lives of young people,” he said.
He announced that they are toying out ideas of importing motorbikes to be sold to young people at affordable rates.
