According to a survey by Twaweza East Africa which was released on November 17, this represents 56% of Kenyans.

Frustrations with the government and political system lured 20% to join radical groups, the study which polled 1,801 respondents showed.

Less than 15% of the respondents mentioned religious motivations, social media/internet influence, and influence from religious leaders with radical views.

The Twaweza survey titled;The roots of radicalization: Citizens’ views on the causes and solutions for insecurity in Kenya, was conducted between August 15 and September 6, and released.
