Speaking at Thika town on Saturday, Kabogo said that lack of jobs among the youth across the country will continue to pose threats to security if not tackled.

He said that some youths are being lured to join terror groups because they are desperate for money.

“The biggest challenge to our security is the many idle youths who have no job opportunities, they are easily falling to criminal groups,” said Kabogo.

The Kiambu Governor urged the national government and counties to come up with more ways of ending unemployment.

“Unless the issue of unemployment among young people is addressed, our country will continue to be threatened in terms of security,” added Kabogo.

The Governor encouraged youths across Kiambu to apply for the Sh300 million set aside by the county government.

Kabogo said that he Sh300 million Biashara Fund has seen many beneficiaries benefit.

He said the county government is contemplating increasing the Fund to Sh700 million in the next financial year to enable more people access.

Kabogo said the Kiambu government through the Youths Affairs department will continue to engage youths in development.

The Governor noted that many initiatives including sports tournaments are being organized to keep youths busy.

The Biashara Fund was created to benefit Kiambu locals who have business and entrepreneurial ideas.
