Saleh noted that equalization funds disbursed to Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties should be fairly distributed to all the communities, irrespective of whether the communities voted for them or not.

Speaking in his office on Saturday, the administrator said clans whose governors currently hold office believe the just disbursed funds belong to them.

“Public funds are not meant for clans. The funds are to be shared equally through initiating development projects across the regions,” he said.

The regional coordinator expressed his worry that small clans who feel they are being neglected in terms of developments and employment might not sit back and watch forever.

“These smaller clans are watching. They might rebel at one point in future by demanding equal opportunities just like the rest,” he said.
