The body which had visible injuries on the hands, lower lip and a swollen cheek was discovered by members of the public who immediately alerted the police.

According to one of the eye witnesses Caroline Mogotu, she was passing near the church when she saw a body lying in the compound and on moving closer to see who it was she saw a dead body.

“I could not identify who she was as she is not familiar to me nor the villagers and that’s when I called for other passersby to come and try to identify whose body it wait,” she added.

According to Kerina OCS Paul Kiarie who confirmed the incident, the woman is suspected to have been murdered elsewhere and dumped at the church compound because there was no sign of commotion at the spot where the body was found.

Kiarie disclosed that the police had been unable to identify the body and therefore appealed to members of the public who may have any relevant information about the incident to report to the police immediately.

“We have never witnessed any killing like this in our area and we are looking forward to arresting anyone involved in the act,” said Kiarie.

He further stated that the body is believed to be of a person aged between 20-25 years.

The body has since been moved to Nyangenna mortuary for postmortem as the police continue with investigations.
