The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KPDU) through its Secretary General Dr Ouma Oluga has defended the now suspended senior medical officers in Kathiani Level Four Hospital.
In a letter dated July 15, 2016 and addressed to Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, the union accused the governor of engineering the failures of the health sector in the county.
"On July 14, 2016 you purported to have suspended health workers attending to Kathiani Hospital among them the Medical Superintendent Jackline Mirera. We particularly take great exception with your defamatory remarks both on print and social media describing the health workers as 'lazy'," the letter said in part.
"Kindly note that KMPDU certainly believes that the failures of the hospital and the Health Department are an indictment of yourself and your government," the letter continued.
