Former Kibwezi Member of Parliament (MP) Kalembe Ndile has called on Ukambani leaders to unite for development.
Kalembe on Saturday said that Ukambani will continue to lag behind on development if its leaders don’t unite.
He stated that for years the region has been divided by selfish politics and interests which he said have blocked realization of development.
“Time has come for Ukambani leaders to work together so that locals can benefit from development,” said the former lawmaker.
The former MP accused some Ukambani leaders of creating divisions among the locals.
He said that disunity will make the region suffer more.
Ndile, who was part of the delegation that received President Uhuru Kenyatta in Ukambani during his tour over the weekend said that the region will only benefit if it works with the national government.
Meanwhile, Ndile wants Cord leaders to completely call of their weekly anti-IEBC protests.
He warned that continued protests will create political anxiety especially this time the country is gearing up for the 2017 general elections.
During his three tour of the region, President Kenyatta asked leaders in the region to work together. Uhuru said that selfish politics by some politicians had denied the region access to development projects.
