Nyamira County assembly speaker Joash Nyamoko believes area youths can tackle social-economic problems if they bury their differences and unite as a team.
The county youths have tried to hold unity meetings for a number of times, only to fail due to differences among them with the latest held later December 2015 but ended in skirmishes after youths allied to different political factions disrupted it.
Nyamoko, who was speaking in his office on Wednesday said disunity was a major undoing for youths and challenged them to bury their political differences and fight for a common good.
“I am a fan of youths but I always get disappointed in the manner they tackle their affairs. There is no unity among them and this is a major undoing for their social-economic growth,” Nyamoko said.
“Most challenges facing the young generation are similar and it’s upon them to unite and tackle them as a team. If they allow their political differences take center stage, then I am sorry they have a long way to go. They will languish in poverty forever,” the Speaker added.
He said unity among the youths will challenge the status quo in the county and help them to get elective seats to both the county assembly and parliament.
“Nyamira youths have a potential of challenging the status quo in our nation at large but only if they unite. We will even have a number of them get elected to various houses in 2017 polls. What they essentially need is to drop their radical, political beliefs and unite to fight for social-economic change in our society,” he said.
