Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to unite the country.

The lawmaker who is facing hate speech charges after he uttered dishonourable remarks against the President said the Head of State should reduce the gap caused by politics.

"Politics has divided the country along ethnic lines following the outcome of the elections. Kenya belongs to all of us peace, unity and harmony should be embraced," the Wiper party MP said.

He called on president Kenyatta to dialogue with National Super Alliance  leaders Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and decide the way forward for the country.

He however, accused president Kenyatta for targeting him over the hate speech charges leveled against him.

"Uhuru should focus on rebuilding Kenya and leave me alone. He should concentrate on matters of national importance, not targeting me through court cases," he said.
