Mombasa Jubilee grassroots leaders have called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to unify the country following the divisive October 26 repeat presidential election.Addressing journalists in Mombasa on Friday, the leaders, led by Said Mathias, said it was time for Kenyans irrespective of their political inclinations to come together and focus on developing the country economically.Mathias who unsuccessfully vied for the Majengo/King’orani Ward seat in the August 8 election said Uhuru should make a deliberate attempt to reach out to his competitors and unify the country. The politician said Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto have been given the opportunity to rule the country for the next five years and fulfill their pre-election promises.“President Kenyatta is the President of all Kenyans and as such he should strive to heal the wounds inflicted by the competitive presidential campaigns that started before August,” said Mathias.Mathias said Kenyans at this point in time are yearning for leaders who will bring them together for the common purpose of nation-building.The leaders called on residents in Mombasa to forget about the recent political bickering and work together with the government in a bid to cool down the political temperatures and alleviate hatred among locals in the county.
