Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called upon Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti to work as a team in a bid to unseat Governor Hassan Joho.
Kalonzo said disunity will reduce the party’s chances of defeating Joho in the upcoming general election. “One of you should be a running mate to the other to avoid fallout in the party and to give us a better chance of winning in the August polls,” said Kalonzo, as quoted by Nation. Omar, howver, denied having made a pact with Awiti ahead of the party nominations.Speaking during an interview at the Bliss Resorts in Mombasa, Omar insisted that he is still in the race to dethrone Joho. Wiper, ODM and Jubilee are all determined to clinch the Mombasa governor seat come August. A few weeks ago, the Jubilee Party, under the leadership of Deputy President William Ruto endorsed businessman Suleiman Shahbal to battle Joho with Ananiah Mwaboza as his running mate.
