Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has called on leaders across the political divide to unite and work to empower citizens.
Speaking in Sirisia during the burial of Vincent Furukha, father to Levi Makali, Wangamati said it behoves upon the leadership to work for the empowerment of the people.
He said he had petitioned the County Assembly to increase fertiliser bags per ward from 450 to 750, to ensure only the needy and most deserving farmers benefit.
“Only an empowered people will propel one of us to the high table of national politics,” he said on Saturday.
He rededicated himself to work selflessly for the people of Bungoma without regard to political persuasion.
"I will work for all people, supporter and critic alike,” he said.
Wangamati further reiterated his loathing for corruption saying it deprives people of social amenities such as drugs, roads and bursaries.
