The UK government has given a stern warning over the activities that took place in Kenya over the election period.

Through its minister for Africa Rory Stewart, the UK government stated its displeasure on the amount of force used by the police to calm protest in several parts of the country.

The statement further stated that the police showed a great violation of human rights by using excessive force while dealing with demonstrators.

Stewart also called for the police officers who were involved in the brutality to be probed and prosecuted.

Mr. Stewart also stated that the UK will stand with Kenya during this difficult political time when the country’s democracy was out to test.

“I have followed carefully the activities in Kenya over the last few days. This is an important time in Kenya’s and Africa's democracy. The UK stands with Kenya during this critical time,” he said.
