[Photo| Courtesy]The ongoing fresh presidential elections impasse in the country, has caught the eye of the United Nations (UN).UN Office in Nairobi, Director General Sahle-Work Zewde, has called on political parties to the elections slated for October 26, to shelve their demands and participate in the election.Woek Zewde urged President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party and Raila Odinga's NASA coalition, to agree on consensus based solutions, and end their differences, for the sake of the country's unity.In a statement seen by the Daily Nation, after her meeting with IEBC officials, Tuesday, Zewde said: "The United Nations urges the parties to recommit themselves to dialogue and to seek consensus based solutions to their differences as the most appropriate means."She further called for the respect of the electoral body, IEBC, saying it should be given sufficient working environment to prepare for the polls.Zewde also reaffirmed UN's continued support to the electoral process in Kenya, in line with its values and principles including impartiality.
