Maasai Mara University main campus has been closed indefinitely due a love affair went sour between a student and a boda-boda riders wife.
The violence which took place on Thursday started after a boda-boda riders beat up a student who was having an affair with the wife of their colleague.
The enraged student protested and barricaded Narok-Bomet road and destroyed property in the area. Police swung into action and engaged the comrades in running battles with some being arrested alongside the boda-boda operators.
Registrar of Academics Affairs Dr Otieno Fredrick Onyango ordered the closure of the institution after the continued unrest.
"Following the students' unrest during which one of them was injured on the night of November 16 outside the campus, the senate in its sitting has authorised the indefinite closure of the university with immediate effect," read the memo in part.
