University of Eldoret students have condemned the university's leadership for allegedly refusing to listen to them despite raising pertinent issues.
According to the students' chairman Agonya Edga, the students are suffering despite paying a lot of fees.
"We have accommodation crisis, where 3,000 new Kenya University and Central Placement Service and additional 2,000 self sponsored students are expected to be admitted come September," he said.
Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town on Sunday Agonya said the institution is planning to relocate 5,000 students from the university hostels to pave way for the new ones.
"As students, we wonder where students will go to and why is the University admitting more students and yet they don't have enough hostels," he said.
He urged the institution to always consult students before making any decision and called upon Education CS Fred Matiang'i to come to their rescue.
He added that campus toilets are also in deplorable condition, fees policy where one is supposed to clear before sitting for exams, and untimely release of transcripts among others.
According to the press statement read by the Assistant Registrar corporate affairs and marketing Cynthia Chebii on behalf of the University Management Board, the university will construct a 15,000 bed capacity hostel under the public private partnership to carter for the growing number of students.
"The university has fee policy that was approved by the University council where students are supposed to complete their fees before being given exams card," she said.
She added that the untimely release of transcripts was due to University operating three semesters this affecting the speed at which transcripts are produced.
