When we were at the University of Nairobi or campo as we fondly called it, we had this notion that we were above everything else
The phrase ‘Comrades power’ intoxicated us so much that we believed that everything revolved around us, the cream of the society, as we fondly called ourselves.
When I graduated though, I understood how wrong that notion was.
Nairobi has so many facets to care about spoilt University of Nairobi students who think that they can hold the city ransom simply because things are not going as per their demands.
Last week saw over 27 University students injured.
As much as we would like to blame the police force for extreme brutality meted on the students, we should not forget that police are human beings.
When a student throws a stone at a police man and it hits him, he bleeds.
He feels pain. He gets agitated and the best way he knows how to.
I still remember how we mocked the police during those strikes calling them academic dwarfs who could not muster a better grade other than a D-(minus) but let’s face it, we need those D- products for our security and law enforcement.
You, the A grade mind on the other hand are throwing the city in chaos and causing tantrums simply because Babu Owino, a former student leader was arrested for abusing the police.
Babu Owino did not ask you to protest.
No, you did it out of your volition.
Now tell me, between the police officer and you, who is more stupid.
