The University of Nairobi staff are set again for a delay in this month’s salary for the second month running.

Acting Vice chancellor in charge of finance and planning Isaac Mbeche, in a memo to the staff, said they have not received this month’s capitation from the government to allow them disburse salaries.

“The management is doing all it takes to have the government receive capitation within the shortest time possible,” said Mbeche.

She further called on the staff to maintain calm as immediately they are through with the process, September salaries will be available.

Last month’s salary also delayed, raising concern over government reduction of capitation.

31 other universities across the country are also experiencing delay in salaries.

University Academic Staff Union has given the government an ultimatum to start paying the salaries they used to pay in June before they reverted to old salaries.

The union’s Secretary General Constatine Wasonga stated that lecturers will wait until the end of this month to see whether their demands will be implemented.
