A university student who allegedly killed his lover, chopped the body into pieces and stored them in a fridge has been arrested.
The cultish murder took place at Nairobi’s Kahawa Wendani estate which is populated by university students mostly from the nearby Kenyatta University.
The suspect is said to be a Kenyatta University student. He was arrested on Monday April 10 at Malindi where he had gone into hiding.
Ruiru police said they were tipped of the incident and ransacked the suspect’s house. They found the body of the deceased identified as Irene Kananu. Some parts had been dismembered and stuffed in a fridge, police said.
It’s not clear when the murder took place but police found the body on March 31.
Investigators handling the crime said the two might have fallen out over a love triangle.
The suspect went on the run with the deceased’s car and ATM card which he used in his escapades at the coast.
