A university student has been arrested after a suspicious device was found in his possession at the Multimedia University of Kenya.
The device, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found in the student's room leading to the arrest of the student who is being held at Hardy Police Station in Karen.
Nairobi police commander Japheth Koome said the institution raised an alarm after they claimed that the object was an improvised explosive device.
"We received an alert and we went to the institution with our bomb experts to the scene where we found the object and took it with us," Koome told the Star on Phone on Thursday.
Koome said when the device was examined they found out that it was a motherboard and some capacitors connected to it.
"We left the scene and the experts checked it but it was a computer's motherboard. However we are still looking into the matter to seal any loopholes," he said.
He said after they took the object, they did not make any arrests but noted that on Wednesday a student complained of losing his school project.
