A student from a local university in the outskirts of Eldoret town has been discontinued from his studies for failing exams.
The second-year student studying bachelor’s degree in Horticulture is said to have received a discontinuation letter from the university on accounts that he failed in his exams.
According to one of his colleague Philip, not his real name, the student who is in the mid-20s failed in his exams by investing most of his time in online gaming on the app for farming called Farmer Sim 2018.
“The Farmer Sim 2018 facilitates one to till a farm with a tractor, sow the seeds, cultivate the crops, harvest produce, sell the products and invest the money earned," noted Philip.
Apart from getting the real farming experiences, the application gives a chance to its gamer to earn from transport jobs available online which requires one to invest more time in it.
Philip regretted that his friend had to be discontinued because of the gaming application he had warned him about.
“In several occasions since we joined the university, I had warned him to delete the app he had in his phone because he would sometimes miss lectures and even food to concentrate on the online farming," he said.
The student's future is now in a limbo following the continuation letter from the university.
