A third-year student from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology has yielded to pressure from peers to join politics.

Humphrey Elegwa declared he would vie for the Bukhayo MCA seat in Busia County in August.

"Bukhayo East needs change. I am neither a tribalist nor self-centered," he said.

"Peace and unity should be the cardinal rule in our Ward. Changes are inevitable."

To confirm his position as the champion of youth affairs, he said he would employ 10 youths in his hotel business to enable them fend for themselves.

Bukhayo Ward is currently represented at the Busia County Assembly by Charles Wakhungu.
