Kisii University students have appealed to the commission of university to consider  residents in places where the university has branches before ordering the closure of 10 campuses.

Addressing the media on Monday at Kisii town during a peaceful demonstration the union president, Geoffrey Mutei, accused the commission of not considering the places the university has branches in. Mutei said the university decided to open a branch at Kapenguria and other places  so that it can benefit the area residents who are  said to be marginalised.

''The university decided to have a branch at Kapengurai to benefit area residents. It will sound bad when you want the branch to be relocated to transfer students from their places to Kisii town, where will you take them?” he asked.

In addition, he said that the Eldoret branch is the best university branch of them all but they worried what will happen after the commission named it as one of the universities that would be closed down.
