Students at Kisii University have expressed disappointment over slow development of learning facilities in the institution.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday, some of the students and lecturers said they were uncomfortable taking their classes in some lecture theaters that were made of tents.
"It is usually hot in the afternoons, therefore, we don't learn comfortably while in the tents," said Victor Manyuria.
"Sometimes when it rains heavily water encroaches into the classes thus hindering safe learning," he added.
Mr Vincent Ratemo, a lecturer, said that most of the lecturers who have afternoon classes are forced to shift to morning hours due to the unfavourable weather conditions.
The tutors and students are calling on the university's management to hasten the building of new lecture halls and relocate their classes from the tents.
