Speaking to hivisasa.com on phone, the former students Secretary General Thomas Ruto said that he is ready to bring together over 6,000 university students to join the strike if the government fails to address the ongoing lecturers strike.

“It is so unfortunate that the strike is affecting both the students who graduated and the ongoing students," said Kogo.

He revealed that the students who graduated 2017 were to pick certificates early this month but up to now, they have not received their certificates because the strike had paralyzed the normal activities in the school.

“The issuance of certificates at Kisii University main campus has been suspended until further notice due to the ongoing lectures strike,” Ruto noted.

He regretted that some of the Kisii University were not in a position to apply for jobs because they lacked their final certificates.

“The ongoing students will have to extend their duration in school because teaching had been suspended,” he said.

The students Sports Captain, Elvis Kiprono on his part expressed disappointment saying that the strike was wasting resources including school fees which the will top up if the semester duration is extended.

He urged the government to address lectures strike as it was eroding morals of students due to idleness.

“If the strike goes on parents and government should expect an increase in a number of pregnancies, drug dealers and crime rates in the county," warned Kiprono.
