Moi University student’s leaders have urged the national government to implement the lecturers 2017-2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
They said this will help prevent the public universities lecturers' strike that begun on Thursday."We want to call upon the national government to stop this strike once and for all since students will likely suffer. It's sad that some students take six years to finish a four years course due to frequent strikes," said the University's students leader chairman Isaac Choge in Eldoret town, Wednesday."If the national government will not address the lecturers’ issues, we will join them in fighting for their rights by not only causing economic sabotage but we will ensure all services in our universities are paralyzed completely," added the Moi University secretary general Moses Tisa. The students' leaders also asked the new Cabinet Secretary for Education Amina Mohamed to dialogue with lecturers to end this stalemate over the CBA implementation."During lecturers strike we not only lose money but our precious time, we, therefore, call for speedy interventions by the education CS by ensuring lecturers are paid their dues," Choge said.To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your Whatsapp number to 0740949990.
