Speaking from the home after entertaining the children with a dance, one of the officials, Samuel Kabui Muthunga, noted that children required company and hope from people who have achieved several goals in the community.

Kabui, who is the secretary of the group, noted that it was appropriate for young mentors to instill hope to the abandoned citing that the visit was called for as a way of giving back to the community that brought them up.

He said that the team was concerned about the neglected and how to better their lives citing that chasing the children out of children homes to go back to their homes is not the best solution. He noted that some of them have gone through tough times to make the decision to live in children homes.

‘As a university students team from Gatundu North, we wanted to do something that will touch many hearts during the Easter holidays. We have been donating foodstuff, clothes and many others to these children since last year,’ he added.

He said these children are mostly remembered during festive holidays and ignored for the rest of the year, an action GUSU hopes to change.

Kabui said they are determined to change lives, educate and engage the children in technical courses that will help them even when they leave the home and also cater for their needs.

He said the fact that these children are always neglected and discriminated against by society makes them even bad as they start engaging in drugs, crime because they have no one to give them an ear.

He said he interacted with some of the children and noted that they have a lot of potential if only they are given the opportunity.
