A middle-aged woman was on Wednesday afternoon murdered by unknown people in Marani, Kisii County.
The lady; identified as Ruth Mong'ina who is a mother of two was strangled to death in her house.
This happened while her husband was away.
"We are yet to find out the reason why someone could murder the lady who is doing so well in business," said Ben Mogire, a nyumba kumi leader in the locality.
Ms Mong'ina is said to be running a number of butcheries in Marani area.
Mr Mogire said that the lifeless body of the woman was found lying on the floor in her house.
Her husband Mr Henry Ogendi said that he had planned to visit his wife's home this weekend.
"We had planned that I go and pay dowry but now am already planning for the funeral," he said.
Mr Ogendi asked police officers in Marani to launch investigations into the matter and ensure that they arrest the people behind the murder.
The body was taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral hosspital morgue.
