A former Kamukunji Member of Parliament is on the spot following an incident where goons attacked and injured a former business chairman in Nairobi on Tuesday.
Investigations reveal that Mr Simon Mbugua is behind the incident as he was spotted having a discussion with the goons at Silver Springs hotel in Hurligham.
An employee in the hotel said that she saw Mr Mbugua meeting the goons at Silver Springs Hotel on the eve of when Mr Muriuki was to give a press briefing.
"I saw Mr Mbugua enter the hotel a few minutes after nine at night and later a group of six men joined him ten minutes later," the source that requested for anonymity said.
Investigations reveal that Mr Mbugua's main interest was to ensure that Mr Muriuki does not deliver the conference as it was meant to boost Nairobi's Governor Mike Sonko's influence.
The source also said that if the CCTV footages in the hospital are reviewed then everybody will know what transpired that day.
When the goons were arrested surprisingly, Mr Mbugua was spotted bailing them out only to disappear when he saw journalists with cameras.
The claims come at a time when Mr Mbugua's name is amongst those listed to deputise Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
In a rejoinder, following the incident, Mr Sonko said that he was shocked that his friend could be attacked in such a manner.
Efforts to reach Mr Mbugua for a comment proved futile.
