Ndarugu Member of County Assembly (MCA) Simon Komu has assured residents who have worked for the government that they will be paid.
The MCA said the county government is currently addressing issues affecting the disbarment of funds to its accounts following a fallout with the Senate.
Komu said that the county has had its accounts frozen and therefore it would not be possible to pay the workers until the funds were released.
The ward representative was, however, optimistic that Kabogo would work out the issues and the wages will be paid as soon as the money is released.
The county has been experiencing financial challenges after Kabogo’s refusal to honour a Senate summon.
The senate’s decision to hold Kiambu County government funds has led to fears of an imminent cash shortage that will affect government operations. However, deputy governor Gerald Githinji assured residents that the county has sufficient funds to finance its operations.
He asked residents to be calm as the executive is in a position to give a clear account of the funds expenditure.
“We are all set to give an account of our expenditure to the Senate. We have been very transparent and always will. We therefore ask the residents not to be alarmed by the Senate’s move,” Githinji said.
