Unqualified politicians hoping to acquire University degrees without following the laid procedures now face a hard task after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i warned Universities against issuing certificates.
This comes after a number of Politicians have been seen to be graduating more as the 2017 general elections approach.
“Because elections are around the corner, every politician who wants to go for an elective post is going to a University to fetch a certificate both legally and illegally. Some of them have not even met the minimum entry qualifications for University," he said this on Friday in Karen at the Cooperative University of Kenya’s 1st Graduation Ceremony.
“The Commission for University Education will undertake an enrollment audit of all students in Kenyan universities,” he added
He said the commercialization of University education has created the risk of admission of students who initially had no qualifications to undertake undergraduate education.
“We will not allow this as it hurts the reputation of our higher learning institutions by giving certificates to people who are not qualified," he said.
