Children's homes operating illegally in Uasin Gishu have been put on notice.
County's Children Services Director Julius Yator has issued the warning expressing concerns that some of the unregistered homes were taking advantage of the needy children for financial gains.
Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday, Yator said his office will now allow unlicenced children's homes to continue operating.
"I want to give a stern warning to children's home operating without permits putting children in a poor living environment. This is uncalled for and against the children's right. I will not allow it to go on under my watch," Yator said.
"Anyone one who will be found operating without our approval will face the full force of the law as well as the closure of the children's home," he added.
Yator further said the national government had enrolled close to 6,000 needy families into the the cash transfer programme.
"The aim of the programme is to empower poor families financially to prevent their children from going to the streets to beg," he said.
