A Kisii university student has been selected to study at the University of Minnesota.

Stephen Balaka Opiyo became a beneficiary of the MAST programme between the University of Minnesota and Kisii University.

The Kisii University assistant dean of students Bro Francis Kerongo announced that Opiyo will study abroad for a period of one year.

Opiyo becomes the third student from Kisii University to go for the program in Minnesota, after Alex Obadiah and Sonnie Wachira.

"I salute your gallant spirit Stephen and pray that you will enjoy your time with the UoM crew. There is a team already there who will be your pioneers," said Kerongo.

Kerongo added that he is optimistic more students from the university will find opportunities to study abroad.
