Mbithi was quick to distance the university management from news that was in circulation on social media claiming the institution had set dates for reopening. He also confirmed that they had received numerous pleas from the student body and parents at equal measure to reopen the institution but he was also quick to indicate that due procedures had to be followed.

In a memo posted on the university's social media pages and website, Mbithi informed the students that had been suspended to report to the disciplinary committee as from Tuesday 19th to 21st of April for interrogation into the chaos that rocked the institution just after the April 1 SONU elections that declared Babu Owino the former and current chairman to the organisation.

Owino has also been on record saying the university is not a correctional and that the suspended students be recalled unconditionally.
