The university of Nairobi has emerged the top university in the country for the second year running from the latest webometrics ranking released on Wednesday.

The  university was ranked 7th in Africa and fourth in terms of preference. UoN also ranked 894 in the world. Egerton University came second and 23rd in Africa while Kenyatta University came in third and 24th in Africa.

Moi university ranked position 28 in Africa and fourth in the country. 

From the list South African Varsities performed exemplary well scooping the first five positions in Africa with University of cape town emerging the best.

Webometrics is a world reknown website that ranks 12,000 universities universities using different parameters. Universities have been embracing the ranking system inorder to attract international students.

Parameters used include in Webometrics include web presence, visibility, transparency (openness) and (Scholar) excellence.

It has also been used as a way of embracing a culture of transparency and constructive competition among varsities around the globe.

According to data from Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), from 141 A's of candidates who sat for KCSE in 2016, UoN admitted 102 of them while Kenyatta, Egerton and Moi shared the remainder.
