In a statement, Director, Corporate Affairs John A.O. Orindi dismissed reports that the institution was under attack, saying the explosion which happened at the boundary of Central Police Station and the University of Nairobi College of Engineering was an accidental discharge of ammunition from a weapon being tested by a police officer.
"The explosion was from an accidental discharge of ammunition from a weapon being tested by a police officer. There was no injury reported! There was slight damage to the beam of the Civil Engineering Building," he said."The University management, therefore, wish to dispel rumours in circulation that the University was under attack or was a target of attack," added Orindi.
He further clarified that the University was calm and all students and staff were safe.
