A University of Nairobi student on Saturday died after he fell while sliding down a staircase railing in the hostels.

itnesses, 22-year-old Kevin Kimuger Chirchir of Upper Kabete Campus lost his balance, banging his forehead on the floor.
The Bachelor of Science third year had just returned to the hostel at around 8pm.
Kevin Monda, classmate, said he watched as his comrade badly injured his forehead.
"I had met Chirchir at Ndumbuini trading centre near the campus earlier. He asked me to accompany him for a drink at a local pub before we came back to the hostel," Monda said.
"He fell from the second floor of the hostel. My efforts to save him were futile as he was bleeding profusely."
Monda said the late comrade told him he wanted to check on a friend on the second floor but he did not find him.
It was in the return journey to the ground floor that he fell.
"The last thing he said to me was he was feeling sleepy and wanted to go to bed in his room in Tana C Hostel," Monda said.
