University of Nairobi students took to the streets to protest the arrest of their student leader Babu Owino.

Babu was arrested over claims of hate speech after allegedly responding to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's utterances. 

A number of politicians have been arrested following allegations of hate speech, and are detained before appearing in court again on Friday. 

Owino is alleged to have told Kuria that Raila Odinga is not his mother’s boyfriend.

The students took to the streets blocking traffic leading to Kilimani Police station where Babu had been taken.
