The University of Nairobi is set to launch a modern graduate school of business by May 2017.
The training will be offered in the just completed state of the art infrastructure at the UoN Towers.
This was revealed during a stakeholder forum convened at the Norfolk hotel on Thursday to solicit the inputs of the industry, policy makers, government and scholars on the appropriate model.
During the deliberations the Industry captains challenged the University to set the pace and provide leadership in defining the market instead of responding to the market needs.
They also challenged the universities to partner with the Industry in the development of relevant and competitive programs by engaging the industry captains in delivering practical content instead of theoretical.
The stakeholders observed that there is a big demand for executive training and development in the region but Universities have been slow in seizing these opportunities. Many Business executives are spending millions annually to go and learn in Harvard Business School.
Business Magnate Chris Kirubi challenged the Universities to do the following to get it right: “Research, Publish, and Patent and ensure that you partner with best and you will get it right and prosper”
