Residents of Kibera have expressed their hopes that due to the upcoming new infrastructures in the slums will improve the lives of the people residing in the slums that accommodates thousands of people.
Led by Nehemiah Ochieng', they said that the current structures of stone houses, good roads, and tarmac road in the slum are a clear sign that lives of the people will improve.
"In the last 50 years, I have been here, the state of the environment in Kibera has been dirty. Wastes all over. Now that infrastructure such as good houses, roads, and toilets have been built and roads, the lives of the people will improve," said Ochieng'
"Life in the slums has not been easy in the old days. Kibera used to have poor houses with no toilets. Human wastes during rainy seasons floated and this caused a lot of diseases to the people. Through devolution and support from NGOs supporting people living in Kibera, life is slowly changing," said Ken Omondi.
He added that these days people of high class are coming to look for rental houses in the slums due to its improved state.
