Obado has defeated his political rival Ochillo Ayacko in the hotly contested race after garnering 101,324 votes against Ayacko’s 39,777 votes.

Ayacko had earlier obtained a court order that barred the election officials from announcing the outcome of the ODM primaries that were conducted, Monday, citing malpractices.

Other contesters in the gubernatorial race, Paul Odhiambo and Ann Anyanga garnered 131 and 4,441 votes respectively.

After the announcement, Obado called on supporters to observe peace, saying there must be a winner and loser in any race.
