Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have called for peace and unity before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Tuesday during a media briefing, National Council of NGOs Chairman Stephen Cheboi challenged politicians and their supporters to uphold peace even as the poll date draws nigh.
“Parties should call on their supporters to maintain peace and tolerate each other during the campaign period. Political intolerance is not acceptable,” he said.
“We urge the various political parties and candidates compete fairly. Police and other security agencies should ensure law and order is maintained throughout the period,” he added.
He further called on security agencies to ensure and guarantee security to all Kenyans ahead of August 8.
