A section of residents in Kilifi County have strongly opposed the proposed 2018-2019 budget that proposes for the allocation of a whooping Sh214 million to construct deputy governor's official residence.
Speaking in Mombasa during a sensitization forum on Wednesday, Kilifi Citizens Forum programmes officer Achelo Chinyaka said they have already written to the County Assembly seeking suspension of the proposal.
He said the forum met and engaged residents in the county and that they opposed the allocation, saying the funds could be diverted to other projects that will benefit residents.
Chinyaka said the organisation is not opposed to the construction of the DG's residential home, but rather the money should be slashed to Sh84 million from Sh214 million and the rest be diverted to the County's Health sector.
