Kiambu Youth Association chairperson Francis Wainaina has challenged the county government to move with speed and address unemployment.
Speaking at Blue Post Hotel in Thika on Tuesday, the youth leader decried rising unemployment among the county youths.
He accused the government of failing to prioritize and also failing to curb unemployment.
The Youth Leader observed that many young people have no access to employment opportunities.
“The Kiambu government should move with speed and create jobs for us,” she said, adding that most of the youths are languishing in crime.
Wainaina said that the government has failed to fulfill the employment pledges made to the people during the 2013 general election campaigns.
He said that the government has a responsibility to ensure that youths are well taken care off adding that they will not sit and watch as the government neglects them on key policy issues.
The Youth leader further wondered why the government would allow some leaders to allegedly steal taxpayer’s money that could have used to improve their living conditions.
He asked the national government to ensure that all money stolen through corrupt scandals is recovered and channeled to development and youth empowerment programmes.
