The US has weighed in over the ongoing Cord protests against the IEBC and is now urging dialogue.
In his twitter handle on Monday, US envoy Robert Godec said he was deeply concerned by the violence over the demos.
“Deeply concerned by violence around IEBC demonstrations. Urge authorities to show restraint and all to be peaceful. Dialogue is needed now,” read the ambassador’s tweet.
Cord has vowed to hold protests every Monday to send the IEBC commissioners home while police have come under criticisms over the manner in which they have handled the protests.
On Monday, three people died in Kisumu and Siaya while scores were injured during the protests which have been decentralised to the counties.
Last week, police were captured on camera roughing up one of the protestors in Nairobi.
A car belonging to Cord leader Raila Odinga had its windscreen destroyed during the demos which had largely been concentrated in Nairobi.
On Monday, Cord leader Raila and his co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang'ula, condemned the deaths and called on the international community to add their voice over the matter.
The leaders have been calling for dialogue over the electoral body claiming it is partisan and therefore cannot manage the 2017 elections.
However, Jubilee, led by President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto insist the law should be upheld in sending the IEBC commissioners home.
