The US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godeck has lauded the decisions to establish of a Wrigleys Company factory in Mavoko sub county, Machakos.

He addressed the press on Friday in Athi River saying that the company worth Sh57 billion and whose construction would just began would change the face of the entire county.

“The company's decision to invest such an amount of money in the country is a sign that foreign nations have confidence in Kenya and its citizens. There is going to be an addition of robust market of products that the company is targeting thus an enhanced global cooperation," said Godeck.

He said though the nation has experienced various challenges like terror attacks, it was now time for the country and its citizens to exploit the available opportunities to improve the nation's economy.

The envoy said that the US recognizes the importance of Kenya in the region citing the fact that the country hosts various UN headquarters in Nairobi.

Godeck disclosed that many US companies recognise Kenya. He pointed out that there were more than 100 US companies investing over $2 billion annually in the country.

He said that the embassy was working towards strengthening partnerships with Kenya through enhanced innovative programmes and other partnerships.

"US Government is making a commitment to Kenya and Africa at large so that the embassy would support more businesses thus increasing and strengthening various businesses in Kenya.

The US based chewing gum company is targeting the African continent in its expansion.
