The US government has said it recognizes Uhuru Kenyatta  as validly elected and hence the President of the Republic of Kenya.

The Trump administration hit out at opposition leader Raila Odinga over his move to swear himself in.

Through a tweet by the State Department, US said is 'gravely concerned'. 

"The US is gravely concerned by Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga’s self-“inauguration” on January 30," the tweet said.

It added: "We reject actions that undermine #Kenya’s Constitution and the rule of law. @UKenyatta was elected as President of #Kenya on October 26, 2017. "
