The United States of America has warned her citizen from traveling to 8 areas in Kenya due to threats by Al-shabaab.

In a statement released on Thursday, the US pointed out Nairobi Eastleigh estate as an area prone to grenade attacks, shooting , killing and injuring of many.

The report also pointed out Mombasa's Likoni ferry as another potential target for terrorists. The further advised their nationals to avoid the ferry and only visit Mombasa Old town during the day.

Other areas singled out include; Lamu, Tana River, Kilifi county, Mandera, Wajir, Liboi, Garissa, El Wak and Malindi North.

“Violent and sometimes fatal crimes, including armed carjackings, grenade attacks, home invasions and burglaries, and kidnappings can occur at any time and in any location, including Nairobi,” affirmed the statement.

The statement comes in few days after Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet reaffirmed Kenyans that the Police force has stepped up surveillance in the major entry point.
